The Story So Far...

I’ve always had a huge passion for photography but was put off by the reputation the family portrait market has for snappy suits and aggressive sales tactics.

Let me explain what I mean…

It all started in 2004, we took our first baby Lucas (he’s now a four year old running around like a lunatic - how time flies) to a very well known family portrait studio and weren’t really sure what to expect. Whilst we liked some of the results and were keen to buy some great, contemporary photographic artwork for our house, we were not prepared for the hard sell and huge prices that confronted us. We soon realised there was a big need outside of London for a contemporary family photographic studio that could operate at the very top end of the market when it comes to quality, but still deliver a personal service at realistic prices.
Being a pretty driven guy (my wife would say obsessive) I went on a mission to attain a level of excellence as a studio photographer. I built on my passion for photography and honed my skills by studying one to one with top photography Guru Chris Bell until I was satisfied that I could begin my journey toward making a big impact on the family photography industry. I sourced some really cool materials and framing products from all over the world, bought a huge collection of kit and set up a studio in my back garden. Fresh Face was born November 2005.
Now, our team has grown and we’ve moved to our much larger studio on Godalming High Street. Although I reckon I’ve aged about ten years in the process, with the help of my very patient wife and brilliant team, Fresh Face is now becoming the company I had always dreamed of. Throughout this exciting period of growth I’ve tried to always stay true to my promises:
I insist on excellent and individual customer service and honest pricing.
I insist that products we sell and the technology and techniques we use stand above the competition.
Most importantly, from every tiny baby to every great grandparent, in every aspect of their involvement with us, I strive to ensure all our customers to enjoy this adventure as much as I do.

The Key Players

Barbara
(Wife of Dan, co Director and Mum)
Behind every good man etc…In this case very true! Barbs (as she is known) has a background in television publicity. Before she helped launch Fresh Face she was in charge of the publicity for The Bill and other television dramas for TalkbackThames. She has been instrumental in the birth of the brand Fresh Face and is particularly useful in keeping Dan’s feet firmly on the ground and helping him channel his energy in the right direction. Barbs balances all this with the role of mother to Lucas and the latest addition Poppy.

Dan
(Director/Founder/Photographer)
Dan spent the early part of his career treading the boards on the West –End stage as a dancer and then on screen as an actor. After his most known role of Dillon in BBC’s Casualty, Dan soon began to tire of the precarious life of a jobbing actor. Together with Barbs he launched Fresh Face in 2005 and the rest is history (see The Story So Far). Dan is a people person and makes it his goal to totally relate to all his customers, as anyone who’s experienced a Fresh Face shoot will vouch for.

Laura
(Photographer/Dan’s right hand woman)
Unaware what she was signing up for, Laura joined the team in March 2006. Ever since, she has played a vital part in the growth of Fresh Face. As well as being a talented photographer with a Photography degree from UCCA (beat that Dan), she is a constant source of support and an expert organiser. She’s brought loads of new ideas to the company and is a real do-er.
